Welcome to the fourth Principal's Reflection for Term 1, 2025.
Parents and Friends Association
At St Luke’s, we are very fortunate to be supported by many volunteers across a wide range of school activities. Volunteers contribute to the rich tapestry of opportunities we are able to make available to students, which in turn provides them with a wonderful environment in which to explore their development as a whole person. We sincerely thank all of our volunteers. Last week, the School held the Annual General Meeting of the Parents and Friends Association and installed the Executive group for the coming 12 months. The School would particularly like to thank outgoing President, Kylie Johnson, for her leadership over the last two years and her past and ongoing service to St Luke’s. In addition, we extend our thanks to Shaunna Parsons, outgoing Vice President, who has been a member of the Association since her children commenced at St Luke’s. The 2025 Executive of the Parents and Friends Association is:
President: Veronica Sussens
Vice President: Georgia Burgess
Treasurer: Brooke Fossey
Secretary: Gerhard Sandker
Committee member: Michelle Sumner
Committee member: Joyce Renaud
Staff News
It is with pleasure that I advise our School community that Mrs Mandy Robinson has been appointed as St Luke's new Head of Primary. Mrs Robinson, who has acted in the position since August last year, was chosen from a competitive field, including candidates from across Australia and abroad. Mrs Robinson has worked tirelessly to support students, staff and families since joining the School as the Deputy Head of Primary - Teaching and Learning, and this appointment recognises her fantastic leadership, deep curriculum knowledge and care for students in her charge. I am certain that our community will join me in congratulating Mrs Robinson.
Aladdin JR. the Musical
It is almost upon us! Next week our students will perform four shows of Aladdin JR the Musical. To say a tremendous amount of work has gone into this production is an understatement. There have been long hours of learning lines, songs and choreography, and rehearsals three times a week, including Sundays. A long list of staff and volunteers have kept our performers going and it is really starting to pay off.
As our School community knows, the type of education on offer at St Luke’s goes far beyond the classroom, and it is so important for students to have opportunities to shine across all areas of our School. The production of Aladdin JR is one of the more significant of these opportunities, and I can’t wait to see the show. To everyone involved, I say thank you, which we will be able to do formally on closing night, Saturday 28 March.
If you haven’t picked up your Aladdin Jr tickets yet, there are still a few left, so grab them now.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our School.
Mr Matthew Hughes
